In Memoriam: Mike Steele (1964-2026)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of long-time Affiliate member, Mike Steele. Mike joined OCR in 2014, most recently representing Golden 1 Credit Union. Soon after becoming an OCR member, Mike earned a reputation for being well-liked and respected among his peers. His presence in our Association will be greatly missed.

OCR Director, Tony Faulkner, shared the following note:

"I was saddened to hear of the passing of my friend Mike Steele on Sunday, March 22, 2026. I first met Mike at our local association’s marketing meetings in Laguna Hills, where he later became a familiar and welcoming face, often helping greet agents at the front door. Our friendship grew stronger through our time together in the Marine Corps League, and over the years, whenever he was able, Mike faithfully supported the OCR veterans’ flag-raising ceremony that I led—proudly helping raise the flag. Mike was a very nice man, dependable, and always willing to serve others. He will truly be missed."

Mike's fellow OCR member, Captain C. Roy Fussell, USMC (Retired), has shared a few words:

"Our friend and long-time part of OCR, Mike Steele, died on Sunday, March 22, 2026. Mike and I worked together professionally, but our real connection was as Marines. Mike asked me a few years back to help him purchase a set of Marine Corps dress blues. We went to Camp Pendleton, and once we had the entire uniform put together, he could not wait for an opportunity to wear his Dress Blue Uniform. For the past three years, we have attended several Marine Corps events, including the Marine Corps League birthday ball. I also included Mike in our activities at the School of Infantry, where he had the opportunity to congratulate and meet our newest Marines. Mike was a very accomplished man. His business skills were phenomenal. He had several businesses, including a nationwide notary service. His love was diving and photography. He has gone diving in some of the most noteworthy locations in the world and has pictures and videos that he loves to share. Mike was a friend and a brother Marine, and I shall miss him. Semper Fi Mike!"
