Frequently Asked Questions

How can I check to see if I have completed the Code of Ethics requirement?

Click here to check your Code of Ethics Status on the My Account page.

You can check to see if you have completed the requirement on NAR's website. Sign in to www.nar.realtor. Once logged in, click on Manage Account underneath your name in the top right corner. Click on the My Education tab. A shaded box on the left will display your Code of Ethics Status as "INCOMPLETE" in a red box or  "COMPLETE" in green box. If you see "INCOMPLETE" then you still need to complete your Code of Ethics training before December 31, 2024.

Do I still need to complete Code of Ethics training if I have Emeritus, Honorary or other Exempt Status from the DRE?

Yes, ALL active REALTOR® members must complete COE by December 31, 2024 EXCEPT Emeritus Members. NAR Emeritus members do not have to complete Code of Ethics training.

I have completed my Code of Ethics training. How do I submit my certificate of completion?

You may submit your certificate online through our Code of Ethics Certification Submission form.

What classes will satisfy my Code of Ethics requirement?

Ethics classes provided by a DRE approved provider will qualify but you will need to submit your certificate of completion in order to get credit. You can also take the training online through NAR.

I renewed my license and took an Ethics course. Don't you have that on record?

Unfortunately, no. The Department of Real Estate does not send associations data regarding your license renewals so we do not have a way of tracking education completed for a license renewal.

If you did take an Ethics course for your license renewal, you can log into eLicensing and download form RE251 - Continuing Education Course Verification. To access form RE251, log into eLicensing through the Department of Real Estate's website. Under License Options, click on Review Your License Application. Then click on RE251 - Continuing Education Course Verification and download the form to your computer. Then upload it on our website and allow for up to 7-10 business days for your account to be updated.

What do I do if my membership was terminated and I need to complete Code of Ethics training?

REALTOR® members who failed completing their Code of Ethics requirement to the previous cycle who are asking to reinstate the following year after cycle ended, will be charged a refundable penalty of $50. Penalty will be refunded if reinstating member completes the Code of Ethics training within 10 calendar days. After the first 10 day period, membership will be suspended for 20 days then terminated if member fails to complete the Code of Ethics training.

Certificates from outside providers will not be accepted for terminated members trying to reinstate.
